STRATUS includes elements of strategic, campus and funding and implementation planning in all of its engagements. However, we also conduct a comprehensive planning process we call Master Development Planning that charts a unified course for all aspects of the institution.

In practical terms, Master Development Planning is a transformational process that combines all of the elements of STRATUS’ three primary service areas and addresses the key questions facing an institution:

“How can we leverage our strengths and opportunities to take us to the next level?”
“What kind of physical environment is needed to take us to where we want to go?”
“What are the best practice models for the programs and spaces we are trying to create?”
“How can we pay for what we want to do?”
“Could we partner with community groups to address mutual interests?”
“How do we implement it all?”

A Master Development Planning process can be conducted for the entire institution; when an institution wants to start a new campus or center; or when it has the opportunity to partner with other institutions, local government or corporation on a major development project. Regardless of how and where it is applied, a STRATUS Master Development Plan has the following elements to drive the future of the institution:

Current Status: Strengths, weaknesses, issues, opportunities
External Drivers: Environmental forces, trends, needs
Strategic Plan: Vision, mission, goals, objectives, programs and projects that seize opportunities to create competitive advantage
Best Practice Models: Descriptions of similar successful initiatives
Campus Master Plan: Facilities, landscape and utilities required to realize the strategic plan
Design and Maintenance Standards: Guidelines to maintain a high-quality physical environment
Estimated Costs: Funding required to implement selected programs and projects
Implementation Plan: Steps required to set the plan in motion
Funding Strategies: Multiple sources for financing programs and projects

STRATUS also has the capability to develop fundraising case statements and a promotional audio/visual presentation to help communicate and generate support for the Master Development Plan.
