As Maryland’s Public Urban University, Morgan State has become a significant partner with the City of Baltimore, other higher education institutions, K-12, healthcare, neighborhood groups and community agencies, to enhance Baltimore’s economic and cultural health, and transform nearby neighborhoods and
communities. The University has embarked on long-term development initiatives that create coherent physical and social connections between itself and Northeast Baltimore and downtown Baltimore. Creating these links required a comprehensive plan to revitalize neighborhoods; preserve and enhance natural greenbelts; development mass transit links; and create academic centers in the community for teaching, applied research, and commercial development.
